View of Even-Sappir

The Essene Farm is located in Even-Sappir, a small village 20 minutes drive west of Jerusalem. The village is surrounded by a Mediterranean forest on the slops of a magnificent mountainous area, which many natural springs in short walking distance. Our vision is to establish a hygienic resort where people can learn natural hygiene, direct workshops for living ecologically, organic gardening, and supervise fasting. We plan to cultivate the land according to the permaculture methods; plant an orchard using organic methods, restore old terraces, and revive "Ein-Khandak", a spring that was used in the old times to irrigate the terraces. The Essene Farm gives people the opportunity to follow the life-style of the Essenes. The Essenes were a group of people living in Israel 2000 years ago who were healers, living a spiritual life close to nature. The Essene Farm is near a Franciscan monastery named "St. Johan in the Dessert" and also not far from the village of Ein Kerem, an important Christian site. The farm is open to volunteers who wish to experience the reviving of a piece of land in the Holy Land for the sake of healing people naturally. One of our main goals is to help sick people heal using fasting techniques and other principles of Natural Hygiene. We wish to see people developing spiritually through love and work closer to Mother Nature.
